The place where things that can't be explained happen, I can assure you that I've never been to a place as beautiful as Puerto Escondido. The perfect combination of relaxation, good vibes, price, and party.
Puerto Escondido is a small town on the coast of Oaxaca. It is very small and many of its streets are not even paved but it has an inexplicable magic. It has grown a lot in the last few years and the main reason for this is that it is a surfers spot. I have no way of putting into words what it is about it, but it is so unique that many of the people who come here stay here permanently.
Just arriving here gives you a feeling of relaxation like nowhere else. People everywhere are friendly and you can make the best of friends literally on the street. The beaches are a beautiful turquoise blue and there is even a bioluminescent lagoon.
Recommendations:
- Carrizalillo: this is the bay with the lowest current. Here you can swim or take surfing lessons for beginners.
- Dolphins and turtles tour: it starts very early in the morning, but I have never seen so many dolphins and turtles together. Seasonally you can even find whales.
- Zicatela: you can go and watch the professional surfers.
- Punta Zicatela: full of restaurants and shops. It is the main street of Puerto Escondido.
- Bioluminescent Lagoon: this is a night tour and you have to make sure there is no full moon as it makes it difficult to see.
Food
-Lychee: the pad thai is unbeatable and the passion fruit mojito is a delight.
- Chikama: one of the most famous restaurants in town, serving Peruvian food.
- Cafecito: don't miss the choco milk frappeado. Homemade Mexican food, you will be impressed by the cheap prices.
- Elephant garden- a restaurant with a very good vibe and very quiet, they serve organic food.
- Café Olé- it's usually a bit crowded but the mc Gregor eggs make it worth the wait.
-Selina: it's a hostel, the bar is very nice and you can mainly listen to Rels b songs.
Nightlife
- Rave: if you go to Puerto Escondido you have to experience what it's like to go to a rave in the jungle. The music is techno and tickets cost around $50 dolars with transport included.
- Juana Mezcala: When in Oaxaca you have to try a traditional mezcalita. It is the ideal place for a pre and the atmosphere gets really good.
- Xcaanda Zicatela: one of the main nightclubs in the area.
- La piedra de la iguana - I honestly couldn't go but I've been told it's one of the best places for an after-party.
Puedo asegurar que no conozco ningún lugar que se le compare a este. La combinación perfecta entre relajación, buenas vibras, precio y fiesta.
Puerto escondido es un pueblito en la costa de Oaxaca. Es pequeño y muchas de sus calles ni siquiera tienen pavimento pero tiene una magia inexplicable. Ha crecido bastante en los ultimos años y el principal motivo de esto es que es un lugar de surfistas. No tengo forma de decir en palabras que es lo que tiene, pero es tan inigualable que muchas de las personas que llegan a este lugar se quedan a vivir permanentemente.
Simplemente llegar a este lugar te transmite un sentimiento de relajación como ningún otra parte. La gente en todads partes es amable y puedes llegar a hacer los mejores amigos literalmente en la calle. Las playas son de un azúl turquesa hermoso e incluso hay una laguna bioluminicente.
Recomendaciones:
- Carrizalillo: esta es la bahía con la corriente más baja. En esta puedes nadar o tomar clases de surf para principiantes.
- Tour delfines y tortugas: comienza muy temprano, pero nunca he visto tantos delfines y
tortugas juntas. Por temporadas puedes inclusive encontrar ballenas.
- Punta Zicatela: lleno de restaurantes y tiendas. Es la calle principal de puerto escondido.
- Laguna bioluminicente: es un tour nocturno y tienes que estar seguro de que no hay luna llena debido a que esta hace que no se pueda observar bien.
Comida
-Lychee: un pad thai inigualable y el mojito de maracuyá es una delicia.
- Chikama: uno de los restaurante smás famosos del lugar, sirven comida peruana
- Cafecito: no e pierdas el chocomilk frappeado. Comida mexicana casera, te impresionarás de los precios tan baratos.
- Elephant garden- es un restaurante con muy buena vibra y muy tranquilo, sirven comida orgánica.
- Café Olé: suele estar un poco lleno pero los huevos mc gregor hacen que la espera valga la pena.
-Selina: es un hostal, el bar es muy bonito y puedes escuchar principalmente canciones de Rels b.
Vida Nocturna
- Rave: si vas a puerto Escondido tienes que vivir lo que es la experiencia de ir a un rave en la selva. La musica es tecno y los boletos cuestan alrededor de $300 mxn con transporte incluído.
- Juana Mezcala: Estando en Oaxaca tienes que probar lo que es una tradicional mezcalita. Es el lugar ideal para un pre y el ambiente se pone muy bueno.
- Xcaanda Zicatela: uno de los principales antros de la zona.
- La piedra de la iguana- sinceramente no pude ir pero me han dicho que es de los mejores lugares para el after
